I'm not fond of IMAX presentation of non-IMAX, theatrical releases. The aspect ratio is wrong, as is the distance to the screen. IMAX was designed for short, immersive experience content, not narrative movies. The last IMAX I watched was "Apollo 11", at Marq*E. The source was way too low resolution for that screen. All I saw was the giant pixels.

The Regal issue is that they "upgraded" but took the cheap route and only did single laser. So no 1.43 showing and no 3d. I'd be less bothered that they haven't upgraded yet vs doing a half assed upgrade. AMC Metropark Square in Shenandoah has the only IMAX Laser screen in the Houston Metro. However, since the movie was shot on IMAX I would head to AMC Metropark Square 10. That is AMC's newest theater in the region and also the only AMC with IMAX 4K Laser in the area. The movie I think has 40 or so minutes of expanded ratio scenes so IMAX 4K Laser will be the absolutely best projection experience for you. Honestly its not worth it to go to imax for this film. I did Dolby 3D at AMC Willowbrook and IMAX 3D in AMC Metropark and both were about the same size in like width with imax being a bit taller but since Dolby has better audio, seats and projection system, I'd just do that. Just sit close enough that you can have a bigger view.
