The Kansas Geological Survey is a research and service division of the University of Kansas. Its main headquarters, in Lawrence, is the repository for the more than 450,000 oil and gas records submitted or donated to the state. The KGS Wichita office maintains geologic samples from more than 144,000 oil, gas and exploratory wells drilled in Kansas.
